Nursing managers have to set expectations in order to make sure that their staff is able to best care for patients.  

First, managers must communicate clearly with staff. This ensures that everyone is on the same page, in terms of what needs to be done and what goals need to be accomplished.

Next, managers should be available to their staff and ready to talk at all times. Being visible is important so that nurses know they can come to managers with questions and concerns at any time. Finally, nursing managers need to maintain a positive attitude.

Positivity will spread to the rest of the team, which helps to boost morale and will ultimately benefit both nurses and patients.
